Soneva Fushi & Six Senses Spa Maldives
The very first of the Robinson Crusoe style isolated hideaways; Soneva Fushi & Six Senses Spa is located in the North Baa Atoll of Maldives and is a 25 minutes ride from Male in a seaplane. The property has been painstakingly developed and maintained by the duo Sonu and Eva Shivdasani who own this charming holiday getaway. Developed to incorporate all the necessities of a luxury holiday without the trappings of commercialization, Soneva Fushi & Six Senses Spa is an excellent example of eco-friendly accommodation in the Tropical Islands of Maldives. The owners created this property to reflect ‘intelligent luxury’; and that is exactly what you get when staying at this beautiful holiday resort.
Located on the Kunfunadhoo Island, one of the largest in Maldives is surrounded by crystal clear blue waters and a spectacular coral lagoon. The resort has a total of 65 residences on offer. The choice in rooms which Soneva Fushi Resort offers is mind boggling with 15 Rehendi Rooms, 10 Duplex Deluxe Cruise Villas, 13 Soneva Fushi Villas, 2 Deluxe Soneva Fushi Villas, 9 Soneva Fushi Villa suites, 1 Crusoe Villa Suite, 6 Crusoe Suites, 1 Presidential Suite, 1 Soneva Fushi Villa Suite & Tree House, 1 Soneva Fushi Jungle Reserve, and 1 Spa Suite. All rooms are equipped with modern amenities such as a TV and DVD Player, mini bar, hairdryer and safe. However, on entering the room you might not even realize that such amenities exist, as they are cleverly hidden from direct view by intelligent designing aimed at retaining the Robinson Crusoe feel. Coconut wood, rattan and water hyacinths act as the camouflage for these amenities. The Villas are all individual in their location, separated from the others by thick tropical vegetation. Even the bathrooms in each villa come with a private attached garden. All the villas are located on the beachfront, giving easy access to the beach and the wide expanse of the ocean.
Soneva Fushi Resort & Spa was voted the ‘Top Hotel in the World’ by Conde Nast Traveller Reader’s Award in 2000. The resort is known for its impeccable yet friendly service, apart from the vast and mouth watering cuisine the chefs’ dish out for guests. The coral reefs around make this island resort an excellent diving spot and other water sports. Cycling is also one of the preferred activities on this holiday resort. The owners encourage you to kick off your shoes and traverse the island on naked feet. This is an advice which every guest must take, to enjoy the pleasures of powdery white sands melting away under each step.
